Hello! Today I find myself in Hull Massachusetts for 2 nights of hockey portraits, the 2nd night being tonight. Last week I had the opportunity to attend and photograph the season closer of the ROC city rollerderby. The photos can be seen on my flickr stream, they turned out to be one of my favorite sets to date so I encourage you to check them out!

I'm outside of bobs alignment and collision in Naples ny waiting for Amanda to finish her meeting with the owner so I figured I would kill some time since the grocery shopping is done as well. I'm just glad its warm enough to have the window down and cool enough to keep the food.. been waiting here for 35 mins already!

Some bumps in the road

It's hard enough being on the road a week at a time driving 200 miles on most days and then doing a photoshoot before coming home for 1 day and going out again for a week the next morning for months on end. Add to that a relationship, let alone a new one that started just a couple months before this all happens. Explaining this before it happens cannot compare to what it is like to actually live through it, I am thankful to have found someone willing to stick it out until it ends..

It is not easy to get to know someone, find out if they are right for you, argue and connect with a cold piece of plastic and 300 miles between you. I'm just glad I don't have kids yet!

2011 WHEC Weather Calendar

Last year I submitted 12 photos and 2 of them were chosen for the months of May and November. The bar is now set very high and I am having trouble deciding which photos to submit this year.

Earlier this week I chose 42 of my favorite photos from this year. I had my Mom, Dad and Amanda narrow those down to 31 photos. Then I uploaded those to Facebook and came out with 17 community favorites. Now I have to figure out which 5 to eliminate from here... The deadline for submissions is this Sunday, let's see which survive the final cut! Feel free to voice your opinion!

Stuck Inside on a Rainy Day

As the title suggests I am indeed stuck in the hotel room all day long with rain and flooding from this tropical front or something.. The original plan was to go in to the city and take some pictures of the Fall foliage in Central Park. OCC Showroom

I had some free time this morning and happened to be at a hotel just down the road from the OCC showroom. There are some wild bikes there! There was a small discovery channel crew wandering outside.. they have bigger cameras than I do. I also saw Paul Sr on the floor next to me.. TV makes him look a lot bigger. Colorgraphics photos are back in full swing now.. oddly enough I ran into 4 coworkers at the hotel I am staying at right now. Todays shoot went very well, word on the street is today was the most efficient the club has seen in 7 years...

The location was set in a massive grand ballroom at the
Royal Albert Palace. This place had a chandelier that must have been 30 feet across and 20 feet tall, the room was the size of a football field with intricate designs all over the walls. Out front was a fountain about 40 feet tall with 3 tiers of water falling into a pool at the base and the outside of the building looked like something from the movies.. check out my flickr stream to see a few photos.

September 7 was Amandas birthday.. I had the night planned out but it didn't quite go to plan, still a great night though. We watched a movie of her choice, followed by me cooking dinner. I was trying to set up a space for us to eat outside with the picnic table but as I finished putting up the lights it started to storm.. and we missed ballroom dancing class which I also had planned to go to, but the night turned out nice and relaxing regardless.

I've had a Droid incredible for awhile now but this is the first Blog, sports, portraits, football, college, university, qqger post using it. Sports portrait season has picked back up so I'm on the road again, right now in Holyoke MA, birth place of volleyball, camped at a days inn for the night to shoot Amherst college football team in the morning.

Fairleigh Dickinson University football team went smooth this morning with all individual photos, the team photo and the break down photos taken within 1 hour! And I got to go up on the lift.

I'm looking forward to this long weekend coming up, Friday night party at my new apartment, Saturday I will meet Amandas parents, Sunday we go to my grandparents, Monday is tbd and tues is Amandas birthday!

And I booked the first 2011 wedding! The date is set for July 18th.

The All-New Frohtography of Rochester!

I hope you have been following me on flickr and twitter! If not you have some catching up to do! Here's a recap on the good stuff since I posted last:

Jayarr Customs: Frohtography photographs Jayarr Steiner. If you need some shirts made in the Rochester area, this is the guy to go to. Along with making some SWEET Frohtography shirts I had him fill a personal order for a friend, while relaying him the sizes I got a few wrong.. when I told him about the problem and that we needed the shirts for the weekend he drove to his supplier directly to make sure I had the shirts in hand the next day. "Punctuality is Paramount!" Good friend, good businessman. Keep it up Jayarr!

You also have to check out this years pictures of fireworks on the 4th of July in Rochester. Some great pics and a few cool effects to make some textures and "video".

Most recently I've been having a blast working with Pavilion Motocross Park. For the race coming up August 8th I am bringing in some models for the riders to pose with for a photo. Pics from the promo shoot can be seen at flickr. Make sure you are at the track on August 7th between 3pm and 7pm.. You do NOT want to miss your chance to meet Lacey and Ruby!

Motocross Madness and beach bumming

This past weekend I took my camera to the Motocross track in Pavilion and snapped over 2000 photos throughout the days races. Check out what I have edited and uploaded so far at flickr. At the time of writing this there is 476 pictures uploaded so far, with a couple hundred more uploaded by the morning.

This week-ish has been amazing! beaches, concerts, drive in, parties, tons of new friends and wild nights. 2010 is shaping up to be an unforgettable summer.

This is my wall outlet each night, I try to charge the Lumix during the day when there is open space, provided of course I am not using it... which reminds me for the 47th time that I need to get an extra battery.

As usual I've been doing the travelling camera man dance and enjoying the sun whenever possible. I think I would like to start posting to this blog more often with more useful information for other photographers, or maybe to answer questions anyone may have about taking pictures... So if you have any q's post them in the comments and I will provide an answer, usually one that makes sense.

A Moment to Breathe (almost)

I've been so busy taking pictures lately, I haven't had much time to do anything else or take a breather. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not complaining! I do what I love each day and travel to new towns and cities and I am meeting new people every day. Today was a whole new world with photographing "Fundamental 4's" t-ball. 50 - 4 year olds. Some shy, some cry, some smile, most ask random questions... "Why is your hair curly?" "Can I have ice cream after my picture?"

Tomorrow morning I will take a bit of time to visit the local schools and try to hang a couple flyers in the hallways to promote my senior portraits.. If you catch a glimpse of the Frohtography van while I am out tomorrow (5/20) call me up and answer a simple question and I'll take $25 off a future portrait session for ya!

Sorry I haven't updated since the Swain Extreme Wknd. I forget to update more than 140 characters at a time. Well, since Swain I've gone down to Florida which was a blast! That was my first time down. While I was down there I wandered Disney, laid on the beach in West Palm, checked out the streets of South Beach. And before I knew it a week had passed and it was time to fly back home.

Also I've taken 2 trips up to Canada in that time, the 2nd time going through Michigan after work in Ohio to stop at a good buddies house.

And of course I've had some photo shoots in there as well, all of which have gone very well. Oh! and I'm working on landscaping the yard to turn it into a photographers paradise! Starting out with a fountain pond which measures 10' x 16' x 18". I also plan to put in some gardens, fences, lattice, a gazebo or love seat, a stone check table, a well, a picnic table and a rock structure with a waterfall and most likely fish in the bottom.

If I can get my hands on a large (or a few big pieces) of slate I want to build a frame to go behind the checker table which will be a background that can change on the fly to fit any need.. For now I will be using the side of the house if it comes around soon enough, without the chalk of course. Lots of work ahead of me!

Swain Extreme Wknd

It started with the Big Air comp, it ended with Slope Style. A 2 day adventure at Swain Ski Resort... 1100+ pics and 30 mins of video. 7PM Friday night was the scheduled start time for the Big Air comp, followed by a party all night with the locals just down the road. An 8:30 AM wake up followed by a pancake breakfast and brushing my teeth with Gatorade.

The rail jam was underway at about 11AM, 2 near misses while taking pictures left a chunk missing from my boots.. followed by a hard hit from one of the skiers that sent both of us rolling a couple feet downhill.. The video camera took a small hit too and it now sports some battle scars on the faceplate along with a bit of plastic missing around the lens. Looks like I got some decent video though, hopefully I'll be finished with the pictures before I leave for Florida.

A tiring 2 days, time for a nap

I had a blast in Canada this weekend! (Thanks Alan, Karla and Anya!)

I found out today one of my photos was matted, framed and taken to a charity auction in TX and sold for $180! The second highest item of the night! (Thanks Alicia!)

I now have a "logo" and may be doing a photoshoot for a breast cancer benefit in Canada during the middle of March! (Thanks Alicja!)

And that's the short version of my post weekend update, now to get some sleep so I can take care of business and meet with a mentor tomorrow.

New Business Cards

My new business cards arrived today, while not the first time I've ordered cards from VistaPrint it was the first time I had a problem with the print quality. There is a satisfaction guarantee on all orders for something like 30 days after you receive the package, so I contacted customer support with the issue (a black dot on the back of the card on an otherwise white background of a portrait) within 3 days they had credited my account the value of the order, fixed the problem and shipped the new cards to me. I didn't have to do a single thing after reporting the problem. Even better, the new cards were shipped within a business weeks time! Can't thank you enough VistaPrint. Customer for life.

Polar Plunge and Ice Hockey

907 pictures today, I guess I made up for some lost time of shooting this winter. I also got more than my fill of cold weather. Most will get deleted of course, but what was different with shooting the "Polar Plunge" is that I was late in arriving, couldn't really see what was going on so I was shooting while holding the camera above my head. My first look at the pictures was after I got back home in the evening, interesting to look around and see what I can find in them (including Waldo, no joke.)

I made it over to Mendon Ponds Park afterward for the Red Bull Open Ice Hockey Tournament. I thought it would be more of a party than it was.. though parked off the edge of the pond was a Red Bull SUV that expanded to reveal 2 big screens and 6 PA speakers. That thing was cool.

The games were quite entertaining, I wasn't expecting the caliber of players that showed, very surprised. To see the pics from today check out these 2 links:

Back again

I picked up some great new tips and tricks for internet marketing thanks to SCORE (score.org) and todays teacher Mary Anne Shew (http://www.bizvitality.com/) among other sites that she has and posts to. Very wise woman, you need help with marketing, she's the one to ask. She has a great web presence and great business ethics.

Anyone trying to start a business should check out SCORE, it's an excellent resource for guidance in the right direction from counselors that have already gone through many of lifes experiences. Being only 24 I find this program to be a huge help in figuring out what the heck I'm doing.

Other than that it's the same ol' a couple days a week at CG while I'm pushing my own photography on my days off (the next few days time will go to improving my web presence and refining yet again who I am as a business)

Good luck to everyone at the meeting, some familiar faces, some new faces, lots of great ideas for Rochester business!

It's been a busy week.. Work, classes, work, work, Frohtography and a little (very little) bit of friend time. Geneva ice hockey pics were on Monday and Tues night with Jamesville-DeWitt sports tonight.

I took a class on Wednesday which I can now lay claim to being a master (in training) of business planning and finance. Tomorrow finds me working on a business plan, balance sheet and finding where my break even point is! Yay business finance!

All this work is good though, keeps me from going crazy during the winter months and provides me the opportunity to become financially free!

Winter Sports at Clarence

First photoshoot of the year for Colorgraphics today at Clarence NY.. A good exercise in fast paced photography with bad sync cords. And that about occupied the whole day, there will not be a day 7/365 on Flickr, I was going to use a frame from a video clip I took today but each time I tried to copy/paste there was a transparent layer in the video spot.

First Monday of officially starting my photography business (again) this time for real. Overall a semi productive day for how early in the process I am.

CG has me back at work on Thursday and Saturday this week. Clarence high school on thurs and a basketball league on saturday.

Today is also day 2 of my 365 project (i started late) im holding off on the original idea for today's picture until later down the road, more appropriate will be a photo that relates better to my feeling of this day... I still have to take it, later
